Releasing the Dragon

Sarah Madsen / Comment on this

“Releasing the Dragon” is the first of a series of watercolor illustrations Sarah Madsen painted for the children's book The Dragon's Gift.

In this painting, a young boy releases a Chinese water dragon he has surprisingly captured in his fishing net. The dragon later takes an interest in the boy and decides to help him solve a problem. This painting captures the fluid lines of the colorful dragon and the tenderness of the amazed boy. This painting transports children of all ages to a magical world where people and dragons meet.
